“When I first took the position, there were only four volunteers and they were team members who responded to national disasters.” Hoping for more volunteers, Campbell said her plan is to have a team report to a site within two hours of receiving a call to assist a family.“Volunteers will wear pagers, which will inform them of a disastrous situation,” Campbell said, noting the Red Cross responds on a 24-hour/seven-day-a-week basis.

“Fire crews will call the Red Cross and then volunteers are paged to go out.“All we are asking for is a little bit of their money, a little bit of their time and a little bit of their blood,” she said.
