The funds are also used for reading enrichment activities for youths.

"I am blessed to be part of this community, Zylber said, "and I appreciate your generosity." Patricia Jackson and Jean Gadson of Bloomsdale/Fleetwing Improvement Committee accepted their commendation.

They said this is a special occasion because it celebrates the legacy of Geraldine Marell, "who is here in spirit - she was our first contact" with the MWA.

"In her memory, we will do something with our after-school program for kids." Jackson and Gadson said their group helps youth in the Lower Bucks County.

Marcy Bossow-Schankweiler, who founded Crossing the Finish Line, accepted her group's award.

Her late husband had cancer.

She told of his medical treatment at the University of Pennsylvania.

Because of his cancer, she started her group.

"I wanted to do something with people, who are very alone with cancer." Marcy, who is a Bucks County resident and president of her group, said it has a home near Disneyland, Fla.

for cancer patients' loved ones.

And it has donated homes throughout the country.

In the Delaware Valley, the group has about 80 families, whom it services.

"We really make memories," she said.
