RCSI-MUB medical students complete heart saver course... They learned about cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the workings of the heart and the process of defibrillation. The program will be followed by a comprehensive course on BLS in the intermediate cycle and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) in the senior cycle. The Heart Saver Course was conducted by Dr. Mary Tareif, a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Mohammed Bin Khalifa Cardiac Centre and a team of instructors, all certified by the American Heart Association. It was held at the RCSI-MUB, which is recognized as an official training site for the BDF International Training Centre. 'With this course, the students took early steps towards gaining the knowledge and the skills they need to advise their future patients correctly and to perform basic life support procedures,' said Prof. Sameer Otoom, Head of the School of Medicine. Most of the students enrolled at our university will likely work at hospitals in the region, strengthening its healthcare infrastructure,' he continued.
