Teen's memory to live on at park memorial

...It's just a testament of how he was.

People just want to do stuff because he was such a good kid.

He didn't have any enemies, and he had a lot of friends, a lot of friends."Bree Stitt, 15, Madison-Grant freshman class president, said the class wanted to do something to keep Josh's memory alive and worked hard to raise money for the memorials by having a dance and selling bracelets that had McCormick's initials and basketball number on them."He was just a big part of the freshman class," she said.

"He meant a lot to everybody.

I feel pretty proud of what the community's brought and how many people have cooperated and how many people have been willing to help us out and have felt for the freshman class and Josh and everybody."Tuesday morning, as the Days worked on the memorial, Jerry Day commented about what the particular tree - a young red sunset maple - symbolized."We thought this size of tree was really pretty unique," he said.

"It's still in its youth, and it has a lot of years in it, and we just feel like this is a great representation of Josh and his life and the celebration of his life and his memory."See a video of work on the memorial for Josh McCormick at www.chronicle-tribune.com, and watch for ongoing coverage Sunday.
